Journalism is one of my top subjects!

I learned very early in my career that humor is essential to the learning process. I believe that lessons are learned much easier when they are connected to everyday life, such as current events and work or recreational pursuits. I have worked in libraries and am an avid reader and strong proponent of books. When I am teaching I am very patient and try to organize the lesson or my assistance in steps. I'll have the child read the problem or question, ask what they know about it, see if they understand the question and proceed. The patient style helps me see what the student's strengths and weaknesses are so I know what they need to practice and focus on. If the child has multiple assignments or tasks I have them perform the more difficult ones first. Starting with the easy assignments may seem like it makes sense but I would prefer that the student have more energy for the tasks they'll have more difficulty with.
