Reasonable Rates for a Passionate, Experienced Teacher

I think that the most important aspect of tutoring is finding out why the student needs a tutor, and to get to the bottom of that, it is important to listen to the student and figure out what the barrier to learning has been. Once that is solved, whether it be a lack of interest in the subject, or simply a lack of aptitude for that subject (not all of us are math wizards, for example), I devise an approach that fits the individual student's learning profile and interest area. Teaching styles have to differ from student to student in order to meet that person's needs; this is what I do to maximize the learning experience.

Chemistry is one of my top subjects! I have a Bachlor's in Science degree in Chemistry and have tutored a friend in General Chemistry before.

I have worked for various chemical companies, in both research and quality control settings. I have prevously tutored a friend in her General Chemistry class. I am more comfortable with General Chemistry concepts then some of the more advanced material, since I mostly deal with those in my current job. I believe I do a fairly good job of simplifiying difficult chemistry concepts in such a way that they can be easily understood.

I have spent several years as a student and tutor at the university level. I am planning to enter medical school in the Fall of 2012 and as such have developed a strong foundation in the sciences throughout my undergraduate education. Although I majored in Biology, my true passion is Chemistry. I spent 2 years on a religious service mission where I became fluent in Spanish. I really enjoy being around kids and helping them learn new things. When you teach a kid something and they finally get it, the sight of their face lighting up is priceless. I believe that one should teach using a variety of methods because all kids do not learn the same way and each individual method shows something new each time.
