I also encourage students to enrich their writing by reading as often as possible. Young people who take writing seriously are preparing for a successful college career. Post-secondary students who learn to write effectively are more employable than those who view writing as a technical obstacle. One of the most common complaints I hear about college graduates in the workplace is that they cannot write clearly and get to the point. I provide enough background information on the subject matters first, give a big picture of the subject matters and then break things apart and teach them parts. This methodology has always been effective because students find it easier to learn all the necessary ingredients in order to grasp the big topic. I always make sure students are given enough practice questions on subjects like calculus, physics and chemistry.
My experience as a tutor during my school years has taught me that students have hard time on subjects like Physics, Chemistry, Calculus and Biology, not because they didn't have good instructors, but because students were not provided enough background information on various topics. I have always employed a fun-filled curious environment to my students which have helped them come up with more questions and instill passion on the subject matters.
