As a music graduate of Morehead State University, I was very much driven to achieve a level of excellence in education. I earned my BS is Music Education and have completed additional coursework required for re-certification. I have substiute taught many classes and did a long term position teaching 6th grade science. While teaching music for three years, I also worked as a tutor for Sylvan, where I gained tutoring skills. I also privately tutored in my home in the subject of math.
My teaching style is very hands on. I understand that students learn in a variety of ways. Some are hands on, and need to actually get their hands on the project to understand. A Little Bit About Me...

My passion in life is to work with children. I love helping children learn and to see the "light bulb" go off in their head. I believe that all children can learn, but they learn in many different ways. My motto for teaching is "Learning to discover, and discovering to learn." I can sit and lecture on a subject for hours, but only when the student connects with the material will learning take place. I also believe in making learning relevant and interesting to the student. All students have the potential to grasp concepts, but sometimes they just need someone to be patient and encourage them. I am that person.

There is little that is more gratifying than seeing a lesson you have been trying to teach someone hit home, especially when it has taken a lot of hard work on both the part of the tutor and the student to get to that point. I am a very hard worker and I am determined to succeed in every task I undertake. I believe that students who are willing to work hard enough are capable of excelling in just about anything.
