I love to make things interesting. I struggled with science in middle school and required a tutor. This person didn't make learning the subject fun, so from there I decided that with everything students learn a little fun should be involved. As soon as the student becomes stressed, I do some kind of physical activity with them to make them feel better. I have finished many of my math classes through high school with A's. I absolutely love writing stories and essays. The lowest grade I have receives on any writing assignment was a B. I have tutored many of times before and my students did extremely well. A person who has strong negative feelings about learning is automatically hindered in any learning environment. I first gain the trust of my students, and then start to build an appreciation for learning in their minds. Once that process has begun, I inject a sense of humor, a sense of patience, and a great deal of love into my teaching. I have been a classroom teacher for over 20 years. I am very hand-on and like to teach through example and discovery. I have been teaching English Language Arts at the secondary and elementary levels, U. S. History, World History, for the past 5 years. I also held a position as a tutor in the Writing Center for my former alma mater. Before launching my teaching career, I held positions in the heart and fitness field, in the retail clothing sector, and raised two children. We will begin by determining where your strengths and weaknesses within a particular are. This will be accomplished through the use of a standardized practice test that I will provide. After determining what is necessary, I will work with you on all aspects of the subject. We will spend the majority of the time on those areas that are not as strong as the others; however, we will still spend a significant amount of time on those things which you have already reached proficiency.
