Testing Strategies is one of my top subjects! Elementary students can struggle with standardized math tests because they view it as a math test as opposed to a problem-solving test. In math, one has to know how to apply a skill to come up with a correct answer. For multiple choice test, one can often times find the correct answer by using other types of reasoning outside of mathematics, or at least make choosing the correct answer choice significantly more probable.

I believe the greatest thing about knowledge is the ability to share it. I love to learn, but that is only the first step. The true reward comes in being able to impart that knowledge of someone else. However, each person learns differently. Whether in a classroom setting or one-on-one tutoring, it is imperative that the teacher learn how each student learns. This allows them to teach in a manner that produces the greatest results in students. It is also very important that a teacher cares for their students, that a student knows they are being taught by someone who wants them to learn and is excited about their education. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is a delicate balance of content knowledge, compassion, and flexibility. Obviously, an effective teacher should have a great understand of his or her content area, but knowing how to teach and share that knowledge is the key to an outstanding teacher. I do not see students are not robots that all process information the same, so having the compassion to see each student as an individual with different ways of processing information drives my teaching. Those children varied from autistic, cerebal palsy, Attention Deficit Disorders with and without Hyperactivity.
