I have a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from UW-La Crosse. I graduated in the spring of 2012. I was an on campus tutor and I tutored math from pre-algebra through Calculus II. A Little Bit About Me...

I spent one year tutoring accounting students who had difficulty grasping the basic concepts of accounting. I was able to explain the accounting concepts in different wording than the text books and I also created a "cheat" sheet to help them understand how to handle different accounting transactions. The students I tutored always improved their grades dramatically and quickly. This gave me immense satisfaction! I always strive to make a difference in students' lives.
I graduated from California State University at San Francisco. While there I mastered my major of accounting as well as my minor in economics. I have over ten years' experience in all facets of accounting, audit and taxation. I am not a teacher, but I like to think that I can help out in a way that the student or person I am tutoring will learn. I love working with people, and anyway that I can help them learn better makes me feel better. I have children of my own and help them out with school work. From my tutoring experiences last year, my teaching style would best be described as very proactive. Many of the students were extremely frustrated by the concepts that they did not understand. This created an apathetic attitude towards the subject. Due to the lack of interest that I observed, I decided to go through problem by problem with the students. I talked them through each problem, and asked the students questions, but required them to calculate the answer. As we practiced and practiced, the students began to use the techniques that I taught them to calculate the answers on their own.
