I have known that teaching is my calling since I was a Freshman in high school. Learning how everything works has always facinated me and sharing that has been equally rewarding. I believe that learning can be fun when it is relevant and interactive. Students have to be given a vested interest in the learning process, asked questions. My experience in the teaching field has been primarily as a substitute on a daily basis. I have some long-term sub assignments in my resume as well. For the past 7 years I have limited my assignments to "Home/Hospital". I meet 5 hours per week with each student to provide complete instruction in all subject areas for the student(s) unable to be in the regular classroom setting due to illness. It is very much a tutoring situation as 5 hours per week is not nearly enough to provide the detailed instruction available on a daily basis.
It seems to me that everyone can learn, in different ways and at different times. My approach is to have several options of which approach will be successful.
