My comments on tutoring Chemistry : Received an 'A' in both College Level General Chemistry Courses (I & II).

Tutored on TutorSelect.come before a few years back and successfully tutored over ten individual students as well as a couple of group sessions with in between 2 and 4 students. All the students I tutored were either in high school or college. My topic I predominately tutor and that I most enjoy tutoring is mathematics. I've taken Algebra, Trigonometry, Pre-calculus, all three college Calculus courses, and Differential Equations. I also took both college-level General Chemistry courses and both calculus-based Physics courses. I also was responsible in most of my classes for developing a weekly schedule for tutoring/studying course topics with fellow classmates and friends. The best way to describe my teaching style is to find a creative way to remember material. For example, I have a child that had to memorize his prepositions. We made up a song that included them all, in order. It turned out to something like this....ABOARD a ship AS we were traveling ABOUT eight knots, etc. This style was very effective for memorizing. For subjects that require more understanding than memorizing, I prefer my "teach and try" method. This means that I go through multiple problems with a student explaining the steps involved. Then, I set-up a mock test to test their abilities solo. I therefore can grasp their understanding and pinpoint their weaknesses.

I learned through visual aid. So, I guess I would lean towards this style of teaching. However, if a student learns better with audio aid then I would be willing to combine the two methods to better educate the student. My goal is to provide the best education possible and to suceed in that is to have great communication and alittle fun doing the work that is expected.
I have not taught anyone or tutored anyone for money. However, I would like to have the oppitunity to be able to tutor children or young adults on their way of the journey of life. I too was tutored going through school and not just once. I attended Sylvin Learning Center every other year since sixth grade.
