Tutoring is one of my favorite jobs. I really enjoy helping students understand that they absolutely can understand a subject, and the one-on-one, focused nature of tutoring fits my personality very well. I am encouraging and very patient, but no pushover: I realize that the best way for a student to remember a concept is to play an active role in figuring it out. That is why my teaching style involves asking a lot of questions. I provide explanation when needed, but I make students fill in a lot of the gaps themselves. As a Junior in college I made the decision to become a teacher. The decision was based on the observation that a majority of teachers are over worked and don't have the time to provide the individual attention some students require.
