A Little Bit About Me...

I first and foremost believe that every child can learn, and I refuse to entertain any idea that says otherwise. I have found that a constructivist approach works best for most children, and I will always try this approach first. I try to make learning as hands on and relevant to the real world as possible.
I graduated from one of the top teaching schools in the nation (according to NCATE), and have a degree in elementary and special education. I specialized in math education, but am also qualified to teach English, science, and social studies. I have worked with children as young as 2 years old and as old as 15 in a formal setting. I have helped children go from hating a subject to being successful and loving it.

All children can learn, but it is my job, as a teacher, to figure out which learning style suits each particular child. Once you find that learning style, I always find that the students enjoy learning. Learning can be (and should be) enjoyed. Children are so important and shouldn't be overlooked or neglected. I have a heart for children, and that heart has grown larger now having three of my own. I believed we have to cultivate their minds with positive influences and make learning fun and interactive. A Little Bit About Me...

I have always wanted to be a teacher. I began tutoring while I was still in high school. I earned my BS in Elementary Education in 1980. I have tutored students of all ages in different subjects. Most of my tutoring experience has been in math and reading. I have tutored students for all sections of the Alabama High School Graduation Exam. I have been a homebound and home-school teacher, as well as a classroom teacher.
I love to help children learn! It is so rewarding to see the reaction of a child who suddenly understands what he has been trying to learn. I am preparing to graduate in the spring of 2011 from Mississippi State University with a special education degree. I have studies pedagody and methods for two years with a range of experiences in all types of classrooms. I will be a highly qualified teacher in the spring. I have been in a classroom since I was conceived. My parents are high school science teachers. I have studied a variety of subjects, and I have a deep content understanding of math and science.
