I am employed as a Math Tutor at a company in Asheville. Before this, I lived in Raleigh where I worked for several distinguished companies as a Math Tutor. I have taught SAT Math prep at Cary Academy during the last two summers and at Roxboro Community School where I worked primarily as a Spanish Teacher.
I like to use examples and cater my lessons to what the student needs to work on (i.e. homework, test-prep). I also differentiate my style based on whether the student learns best through audio, visual, or kinesthetic means. Effective, caring tutoring from an experienced tutor

I have been tutoring in math since I was in Jr High. Initially my students were sisters and brothers, then nephews and nieces, and finally I began tutoring as a second career. My background includes 30 years as an engineer and engineering manager, as well as teaching math at the community college level and volunteering as an adult literacy tutor. I love applying math to real world problems, and I do my best to come up with pertinent examples to help a student learn a new concept.
I summarize my approach to tutoring with "3 E's": Enthusiasm, Engagement, and Encouragement. I try hard to make each session fun and to engage the student in seeking the solution, rather than just teaching him or her a method.

I enjoy teaching very much. I am a very patient person and more than teaching the students I like helping them figure things out by themselves. I always try to create "real life" situations for them to use the knowledge acquired instead of making them solve abstract operations.
I have a BS in Cybernetics Engineering. As an engineer, my knowledge of math and physics is high. As a student I solved so many operations involving calculus that I memorized the formulas and used them as fast as the multiplication tables. I am a native Spanish speaker. I earned a B.A. in Mathematics at UNC-A and completed one year of graduate school in Mathematics at UNC-CH while teaching Pre-Calculus at the university for 2 college semesters. I completed all coursework to sit for the CPA exam and successfully passed the exam in 1994.
