A Little Bit About Me...

Because I enjoy and see the wonder in science and I like to show that to students. If they see a reason to want the knowledge, and see how it can expand their horizons, then they will be more open to learning. A common problem with individuals needing tutoring is that they sometimes do not think they have the "smarts" to learn the subject. My first objective is to show them they have the "stuff" to get it! Then I show them how it can be fun. This needs to be balanced with the practical need to get passing grades and complete the course work. My style is marked with a belief in the student and I encourage them and acknowledge their progress.

A Little Bit About Me...

While studying for my undergrad in economics I found a passion in helping others succeed as I was. I often held study sessions with groups ranging from 2- 10 people at least twice a week. When during these sessions if an individual felt lost, I would often meet with them at a later date to coach them separately. While attending Siena College, I was employed as a tutor for approximately one year. I aided students in the subject of QBUS, or Quantitative Business Applications. This course focuses on the math skills that are necessary to excel as a professional businessperson today. A majority of the material covered included algebra and pre-calculus, so I would be qualified to tutor in these areas.
As a tutor at Siena College, I was employed to assist students in the Higher Education Opportunity Program. These pupils came from a variety of backgrounds, which demonstrates my ability to work with any type of individual. Although I have tutored in a formal setting for only one year, I have aided my friends and classmates with their math problems throughout my collegiate career. I love helping others and I have already proven that I can make students understand what their teachers cannot.
