I am currently pursuing a degree in secondary education with a specialization in American History. I have a passion for the subject and for helping students succeed. I just completed my practicum last fall and was active in a 10th grade World History class for about 10 hours a week. During the summer of 2011 I was employed at girl scout camp in Lake George where I planned and taught History lessons for our weekly programs. I also have worked for the Walt Disney Company, in the Magic Kingdom. While I was there, I was able to do American History trivia and tours for the Liberty Square area.
I really enjoy engaging the student in discussion of the topic and helping them experience the events in History rather than just remembering dates and locations.

They have various programmed learning booklets teaching all of the major subjects. You are actually more of a tutor than a teacher if you work with these booklets. I have experience in the four major areas of learning which are English, Math, Social Studies, and Science. I was with students from first through twelfth grade. I attended Houghton College for 2 1/2 years. Then I went to NCCC and earned an AS, then transferred to Charter Oak State College. They took all the credits I had earned as a student at both schools, allowed me to define my degree, told me which additional credits I needed and granted my degree. I have homeschooled my children for 15 years. My oldest is 19 and going to RIT in the fall. He has an AS which he got the week he turned 18. I also have two teens whom I currently school.
