I worked and have experience teaching all mathematics level.I believe that all children deserve education and the only way we can achieve this is by transferring what we have as knowledge to the others. A good teacher is the one who combines his or her knowledge with patience because that is the only we can get to the level of student who have difficulties, understand them and helping to bring them to improve their reasonning skills.

EXPERT TUTOR-MultiSubject; Home/ONLINE; +WRITING instructor

As a tutor, I find that it is important to present the material to the students in a way that they can relate to. My job as an educator is to teach them how to learn it and make them want to learn it. I personally do not believe that negative reinforcement is beneficial. Positive responses to students are extremely valuable, even if they may occasionally give the wrong answer. This will give them the motivation to do well. My philosophy is that teaching is part knowledge, part communication, and part intuition. My intuition is necessary to understand where a student is getting stuck. I myself already understand the material; the challenge is to understand why a student does not. A variety of communicative teaching approaches is best. I have learned that different students respond to visual, auditory, or tactile methods. As always, continuous practice is extremely important. I also must ... read more

Algebra II is one of my top subjects! I am a Tennessee licensed and certified mathematics teacher for grades 7-12. I have 8 years experience teaching at the high school level. I have taught Algebra II many times, so I am very familiar with the curriculum and the requirements of the End of Course examination.

I have 8 years experience teaching high school mathematics in Rutherford County, TN. I taught Pre-Calculus (3 years), Algebra I (6 years), Algebra II (3 years), Geometry (2 years), Advanced Algebra and Trigonometry (2 years), and Bridge Math (1 year). I am very familiar with the newest Tennessee curriculum standards, especially for Algebra I and Algebra II and their End of Course Examinations, as well as for Bridge Math, the newest implemented course in the Tennessee high school mathematics curriculum. I also have 2 1/2 years experience teaching at the private school level, in both high school (Geometry, 1 year) and middle school (7th grade math, 2 years; 8th grade Pre-Algebra, 2 years). Furthermore, I also taught at the university level, teaching College Algebra for 3 semesters at Middle Tennessee State University. I have a passion for teaching and helping others. While getting my law degree (more on that below), I tutored math at all levels (K thru College Algebra) at Huntington Learning Center in Jackson, MS. I built a strong reputation at the Center for working really well with students, finding the right approach for each student, and getting great results. Many parents scheduled their child's time around my availability and work schedule. I've worked as an actuary (highly math-oriented) for the Tennessee Department of Insurance and have spent most of my career working in the insurance industry where math is very much at the center of everything. Essentially, I have a lot of real world experience using math for real and practical purposes. I also did quite a bit of training and teaching in the corporate world. That was definitely one of the most enjoyable parts of many of my jobs. ... read more

My comments on tutoring Algebra II : I have taught algebra II for one year and tutored it for 5 years.

I have been teaching math since 8/2000. I first began teaching in a large urban district and then switched to teaching in a private school. I have taught math at both the high school and middle school levels. The subjects I have taught include algebra I and II, geometry, AP Calculus AB,and middle school math. I have tutored math every year that I taught, and also tutored GED math for 1 year.
I think that I am very clear and concise in my explanations of concepts. I am also very good at explaining concepts in multiple ways. So if a student doesn't get how to do a problem using one method, I can go over another approach. I'm a good listener.

Learning is Fundamental

I have been tutoring in the Nashville area for over ten years. My philosophy is if my student fails I fail. So I take a lot of pride in making sure my students succeed. My students range from K thru 12th grade. My degree is in Civil Engineering, which fords me a wealth of knowledge in the math arena. I enjoy tutoring this subject and I try to make it enjoyable for my students, therefore, they want to learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

I am a Biomedical Engineering graduate from the University of Tennessee-Knoxville. I graduated with a 3.24 grade point average on a 4.0 scale. I know how to properly approach and solve problems as well as explain my thought process by focusing on the rationale behind each step in the problem. I have been working as a math and science tutor at a nearby community college.
I begin by assessing the student's abilities, determining both their strengths and weaknesses. I make sure to have a solid understanding of what the student wants to gain/learn from the tutoring session. After the initial assessment, I focus on relevant problems, and explain my thought process in detail. I have the student work their own problems and approach each problem with the method I have taught them. I believe it is easier to grasp complex/technical math and science problems when you provide real life applica ... read more

My philosophy is that a student should not only know the right answer but understand how to come to the right answer and the relevance of this knowledge in their daily lives. I dedicate myself to patient explanations of the materials leavened with entertaining trivia and asides that add context and a little fun to the learning. I look forward to learning about the world with you.

Do my best to help the rest

I love helping the students reach their full understanding of the topic in easy ways.
I have a five year experience over which I learned different students' techniques of learning and understanding the curriculum. I have developed better methods of explaining things to students who couldn't understand the topic. Through God's help and my tutoring, my tutees' grades have nearly doubled and reached over a 100.

More About This Tutor...

I am a pre-med student at MTSU, and I will be graduating with a second degree in Science this year. I have experience tutoring grade school students in math and reading subjects. I also have experience teaching college students in science subjects. Before attending MTSU, I was a professional ballroom dancer and instructor for five years. I have experience teaching ballroom dancing to children as young as five and adults as young as 70!
I am a believer in learning and understanding concepts and principles of the subject being studied. Asking why and how we come to a conclusion rather than memorizing or mindlessly going through steps generates long term success. I believe that this is the best way for a student to prepare for any question or scenario that may be asked or given as well as preparing for future expansion in the subject.
