I have worked both as a substitute teacher and as a certified teacher for around 15 years. I have taught a variety of different courses. I was certified to teach all sciences grades 7-12. However my certification has expired. I have taught both in the private and public sectors of education. I graduated a member of Kappa Delta Pi, as an international honor society. I have always loved to work with children. My job while in college was teaching children at a learning center. I also have tutored several children throughout the years that were having difficulties in either math or English. I have a strong background in math and English, but also have experience in psychology, sociology, and science. I believe a child can achieve whatever they put their mind to, but some times they need a little push to achieve that. There is no need to get frustrated with a child during a learning process because they are during their best and it is our jobs as adults to guide them in the right direction.

A Little Bit About Me...

I teach to the student. That is I get involved with teaching to each student's learning style. It is important to offer a variety of teaching techniques and methods and provide motivation for each student. One on one teaching provides each student with the opportunity to reach his/her potential.
I had always wanted to be a teacher. I taught for 13 years in the Mobile County Public School System at one school. I then took time off to raise my children. I worked for 12 years at St. Luke's Episcopal School teaching English and History. My next assignment was with Cottage Hill Christian Academy for nine years. While there I taught English, U.S. History to juniors, government/economics to seniors, and psychology to juniors and seniors. At present I am teaching middle school language arts in an alternative school.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have two years of experience teaching the English language to Taiwanese children and youth. I have also worked with at-risk children and youth in summer and after-school programs. In addition, I have one year of experience in curriculum development. In addition, I have earned a BA in political science (from a liberal arts college) and am currently working on a BS in accounting. I have an excellent command of the English language, social studies, and synthesis writing, and have successfully tutored my own child in phonics and reading.

I have always valued the importance of a quality education and have encouraged friends with no college ambition to start working on their degrees. I am not, however, an elitist. I think every endeavor is a learning experience, but there are basic skills that are necessary to be successful, such as grammar, spelling, and professionalism.
