I am very patient especially for students who learn slower than others because I was always a slow learner myself. I am very happy to repeat myself or go over other examples to help the student understand the concept. I also like to emphasize concept over memorization. Of course, math has a good amount of memorization, and yes, it is important; however, I believe that learning concept is more useful than sheer memorization, and understanding a concept is better than memorizing formulas and properties.
I have tutored my peers throughout high school, and I enjoy sharing my knowledge of mathematics with others. When considering my teaching style, it is difficult to explain a single process for teaching. When working with different people it is important to remain creative, inventive, and patient. Every person has different learning styles and it is important to recognize in that person what helps them understand more fully. Whether it is diagram and pictures, breaking a complex problem into many simple parts, comparing similar examples that are familiar to the person, or simply taking the time to make sure that the child feels comfortable saying "I don't know". All of these are useful tools, but in my opinion by far the most important is patience. Remaining patient when someone doesn't understand is the absolute most important thing.
