I student taught in a fourth grade classroom this past semester. The classroom consisted of 29 students. I taught all subjects and incorporated many hands on experiences with each subject. I have taught second, third, fourth, and sixth grades. I was a camp counselor for five summers. During this experience I lead a cabin of females for a week at a time. I will be living in Champaign, IL starting this August. I have grown a desire to work with children since my camp counseling job in 2004. I have been giving many opportunities to work with children due to my college training for a degree in education. I love working with all ages and generally prefer English as a Second Language students, but I enjoy working with everyone. My teaching style is very student centered as I try to figure out what a learner likes to learn and cater the instruction to them so it stays fun and educational. I do not necessarily prescribe to a particular approach to teaching as I believe it takes a variety to make a difference. Every learner is different.
