I was a substitute teacher in California and Michigan during the 2000's. I also had my own high school level classroom in California for two school years. I was hired on an "Emergency Credential" because I had my BS but no teaching credential. I was laid off due to budget cuts in June of 2003. I have recently graduated from the University of Michigan-Flint with a Bachelor of Science and teacher certification degree. I student taught during the fall '09 semester. Student teaching provided many opportunities to work on various teaching techniques. The student teaching semester consisted of; leading the class in discussion on a daily basis, creating worksheets, conducting lab experiments and other activities, grading homework and tests, and much more.
