Spanish and teaching have always been passions of mine that I have been fortunate enough to make a career out of doing and using both. I have a bachelor's degree (BA) in Spanish with a teaching certificate and I am currently working on my Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction. I have taught for six years in the Northern Virginia area, Washington D.C. and in Independence, Missouri. I have also tutored students in Spanish of all levels, taught Spanish 1 and 2, as well as English as a Second Language. Students have described me as a very caring and kind educator. I began my musical journey learning the value of playing by ear from my father, a very skillful jazz trumpet player. I played in the local jazz workshop with accomplished musicians while in high school and was awarded a scholarship to the Jamey Aebersold Jazz clinic in Indiana. Also, I attended a Christian University where I was selected to play in a band that was on a televised show nationally for three years. After earning a music degree(BME),as well as the the Pressor Scholar award, I taught at an inner-city music school for five years and gave private lessons before and after school. I have a passion for teaching children as well as adults how to use music as a tool for expression.
