Psychology is one of my top subjects! I am a 4.0 student majoring in Cognitive Psychology. The courses available for tutoring are: General Psychology (and below for high school students), child psychology, adolescent psychology, biological/physiological psychology and human cognitive behaviors. In the fall, I will be able to add language and cognition, personality development and abnormal psychology.
My approach is multimodal as all students are different. The one consistent element is that of an active learning environment. Passive memorization and repetitive tasks are not part of my repertoire as both have usually been unsuccessfully attempted by those seeking tutoring. I request a lot of participation from the student. Development of critical thinking is also a fundamental part of the tutoring environment. This skill alone will help students through all academic courses (and life in general). Although my expectations are high, we begin by building a firm foundation of study skills and habits which work to make these expectations attainable. My background knowledge in human cognition has given me invaluable insight into how we encode, retain and recall information.
