Composition is one of my top subjects! I am a 4.0 student in all English courses including linguistics anthropology. I can assist with all manor of composition from argumentative to research. My approach is a little quirky but has proven helpful to other struggling students.

My approach is multimodal as all students are different. The one consistent element is that of an active learning environment. Passive memorization and repetitive tasks are not part of my repertoire as both have usually been unsuccessfully attempted by those seeking tutoring. I request a lot of participation from the student. Development of critical thinking is also a fundamental part of the tutoring environment. This skill alone will help students through all academic courses (and life in general). Throughout high school and college I helped numerous classmates develop efficient ways of studying as well as providing assistance to learning and understanding the given material. During high school I mainly tutored my neighbor's young children in elementary subjects. In college I helped fellow classmates in my major and minor. The most challenging tutoring experience I had was when my own brother was diagnosed with schizophrenia and he was taken out of school for months at a time. Turning your weakness into your strength

I have been tutoring for over seven years, starting with my peers in tenth grade. I have tutored a wide range of subjects, from Geometry through Calculus III, from general computer knowledge through utilizing the advanced functions of Microsoft Access. I have tutored people ranging from my peers to people three times my age, to as young as third graders. My motto has evolved into "Helping those who feel they can not be helped"
I help guide the student along, having them discover much of the information in a trial and error fashion. Experienced Writing and Reading Comprehension Tutor

I served as a writing tutor to my peers while I was in college. I did this for three years and it seemed to help the students a great deal. This position was accompanied by training provided by one of my professors at Montreat College. The training lasted a full semester. I have also been tutoring a 14 year-old boy in reading comprehension for the past year.
