A total learning experience

Since coming to the Charlotte region in 1996, I have had a wide variety of experiences as a language teacher, having taught in public, private, homeschool, summer school and tutoring situations. Although my primary focus is teaching French, I have also had the opportunity to equip students in Spanish I and II to continue with their language studies. My teaching style is based on reading then reviewing. At that point in time ask questions to see if the student has grasped the information being given. If not, answer questions then clarify. When reviewing information it is important to make sure the student knows reasoning behind subject matter so that they are understanding logic and not just memorizing information. In subjects that invloves math such as probability, chemistry, or statistics, I would do a few examples followed by letting the tutee working a few problems.

Since high school I've been working with my peers to help clarify subject matter, as that was my favorite method of study. In college I tutored under-classmen in Spanish, chemistry, and political science. Since graduating, I've worked with college freshmen as a writing tutor and with middle school students to teach algebra and pre-algebra.
