My comments on tutoring Calculus I : I can help with more than the basics....

I have been an educator all of my life. I was turned on to Math in the 5th Grade by a loving, caring Teacher(Ms. King). I shall never foret that day. I have been teaching 8th grade math(pre-Algebra,Algebra,Geometry) for 10 years. I have been very successful in improving students scores. Last year my pre-algebra students made a growth of 6.55 according to Evaas score data. This was on of the highest scores achived across the state.The students worked hard under my stewardship to achieve this growth.The greater part of the credit goes to these students. My main teaching strategy is to make students succeed by creating pre-tests and pre-quizzes for them so they can succeed while taking them in class, so if they struggle on these, I can explain and teach them before the actual assessment in class

Throughout my years of teaching I had some students who needed additional help so I tutored along with my teaching. I spent extra time with them after class or in a laboratory. I won many awards for teaching and was selected teacher of the year in 2002. Along with adult college students, I have worked with Boy Scouts, middle school students and high school students. As a senior at Harding University High School in Charlotte, NC, I obtained a top score of 4 out of 5 on the Advanced Placement Calculus AB exam.
