I believe that everyone learns in different ways and at different speeds; teaching begins with discovering the learning needs of each student. This means that whenever I teach, I first explain the concept, then model my thought process of solving the problem, and then I have the student teach the material back to me. By teaching in this style, this allows the student the create his or her own understanding of the subject and retain it in the long run.

Since 1991, I have been tutoring and teaching children in Florida, California and Costa Rica. In addition to being a tutor, I have worked with children in many capacities from after-school program coordinator to curriculum writer and summer camp counselor and instructor. I earned my BA degree from Florida A&M University in Visual Arts and History and my Master's degree from the University of California, Los Angeles in Dance Ethnography. Instructing my own ten year old daughter has also further enhanced my ability to work one-on-one with individual students.
