A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored students of all ages and abilities in math and economics for six years. I have learned that teaching quite often involves more than helping students learn the topics listed on their syllabus. My most challenging and rewarding tutoring position involved working with learning disabled students. I became a mentor to many of these freshmen; teaching them study skills and helping them adjust to college life. Last summer, I taught Health Care Economics to forty University of Florida juniors and seniors. I am a firm believer in that every child can succeed in whatever they strive for if they are given proper instruction. Even difficult learners can succeed if the proper teaching methods are employed. Different students have different stimuli that they respond to. There is no one cookie cutter mold for teaching. After all, each student is an individual and responds in their own way. Throughout my undergraduate years, I knew that educating youth was something I was very passionate about so I made sure to not ignore my passion. I completed a minor in Education including such courses as: Classroom Reading, Evaluation and Measurement in Education, Core Classroom Management Strategies, Intro to Special Education, and Young Adolescence. I was employed by the Interior Design department at FSU to teach undergraduate courses, being an instructor of record for the inital course for the department, Design Fundamentals. I have a passion for teaching and learning- it runs in the family as my husband is a middle school science and math teacher. Our parents are lifelong edcuators in Wakulla County.
