A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy teaching and working with all children. I grew up as a teacher's son and now I am a teacher's husband so I have experience exploring different methods to help children learn. I believe I can pass on my education and experience to students and give them real world applications of the material they are studying. I also like have fun so my students should expect to have fun as well.
After graduating with a mathematics undergraduate degree in 1998, I have continued to study all areas of mathematics for the last 12 years. I have passed numerous actuarial exams that cover advanced mathematic topics as well as becoming a charterholder in the CFA Institute in 2009. My teaching style varies from student to student. However, the basic foundation is the same. I like to develop the fundamentals and build a foundation on top of them. I also like to see the students do a certain problem that they are struggling with in front of me. Moreover, I like them to talk out loud so I can follow their thought process and identify where they are struggling and help them better understand any steps that they have simply remotely memorized. I love teaching because I love passing on knowledge. I believe anyone can learn anything they want, it just takes us all different lengths of time and effort to achieve our educational goals. I worked as a substitute teacher for a charter high school in St. Louis, MO directly out of undergrad. I taught most subjects including Biology, Chemistry, Algebra, History and Language Arts. I feel comfortable in my ability to teach most subjects and have no issue working in difficult classrooms as I have grown accustomed to such environments working in St. Louis.
