My philosophy has always been, "make it interesting and they will learn." However, what is interesting to you and I may not be interesting to the next person. Therefore, I listen to the child and figure out their learning style and interests. Only then can I properly teach and know they understand the subject matter. Is she simply bored with the subject? The approach I take with the child depends on the answers to these questions.
