Working with students and education has been a part of my life for about 11 years. I first began doing so in high school, around 1999 working as a volunteer with the YMCA. Eventually I became a counselor and would work my way up to Camp Director. I am proud to say that I am the first of my family to attend a University. Currently I am a senior at Cuny Lehman College in the Bronx, NY where I study English Literature and minor in Secondary Education. I use a lot of repetition and the asking of questions to ensure that students are learning concepts. I also try to give them analogies to help them remember things. I love working with children, as the oldest in a big family, I have often served as caretaker while my father is at work. I currently have an 8 year old younger brother who I'm working with as well as one in his Sophomore year of High school. I'm helping him with algebra and pre-calc. I've tutored kids within the inner cities of Atlanta, through a program called Emory reads. As a tutor I was responsible for helping them with their homework which included all subjects.
