I take time to get to know my students, both to understand their personalities for the purpose of choosing a teaching style that would be more effective with them, as well as to let them know that I genuinely care about them and their success. Compassion, encouragement, and patience are three qualities that I believe are so important to removing the effective filter that a student creates within him/herself when he/she feels uncomfortable.
