I hold an M.A. and an M.Phil. in English Language and Literature (with a concentration in Renaissance literature) from Yale University and a B.A. in English and Philosophy from the University of New Mexico. For the past year and a half, I have been a full-time, tenure-track Instructor of English at the Carlsbad branch of New Mexico State University. Creative Writing is one of my top subjects! Narratives, short stories, novels, etc.

I have no formal teaching experience, only what the demands of life have taught me. I have helped fellow students with the day's lesson and homework. I have also taught new member of my church's tech team the ropes of the computer and production which includes quick-thinking, concentration, improvisation, and teamwork.

My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : My students' able use of metaphor has amazed parents year after year. My students become aware of their voice, and gain the motivation and confidence they need to express themselves in all their uniqueness.

I have deeply enjoyed 18 years of instructing and stimulating students in five states--Michigan, Wisconsin, Idaho, Washington, and Alaska. Most of my experience has been working with gifted students at the intermediate and middle school level; but I am also adept at, and enjoy the challenge of, working with students who have been struggling academically.
I am always working to make learning engaging, vital and fun.
