IN NEED OF A JOB

I have obtained my GED and have always had straight As in high school. I'm also familiar with construction and building skills. I am a visual learner and will do my best to make the teaching fun. I have also obtained 13 college credits from Kalamazoo valley central college. The 13 credits that I have obtained are in computer skills. The computer skills that I have obtained are those for knowing and understanding how to use Microsoft word and all other programs associated with it.
I like to have a fun open minded discussion. I don't like boring so I will do my best to spice it up.

I love working with younger people who have a passion for writing. From a young age I enjoyed writing and because I have invested time in learning about and working on my writing, it makes me happy to see a younger generation love it as much as I do. I hope to inspire those who write to keep with it and support them in their endeavors. I wouldn't have enrolled in writing programs had it not been for the teachers and professors who supported and encouraged me. As an older recent graduate I have experienced how hard it can be to get a bachelor degree and raise a family at the same time. To be committed to both made me who I am today. A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching mainly K-8 on a consistent schedule, I have learned that some students need one-on-one teaching. Being the third teacher in Head Start, I had time to work with individual students. All children were very well prepared for kindergarten. The older children, including High School and Middle School, I would walk around the room and aide them when they were confused. I also had them read the text orally taking turns and we would do the work sheet to prepare for quiz, test or new chapter. I am very patient with those who are truly in need of assistance. I have tutored in the past in phonics for those having difficulty reading and pronouncing letters.

A Little Bit About Me...

Although my degree is in music education, most of my teaching was done in Christian schools. I have taught math (through Algebra II), English, grammar, history, and science. I would be proficient in any math through Algebra I and any English, grammar or history through grades 12. I have taught grades 3-12.
I have high expectations of students, but I adjust my "teaching style" to the student. For the struggling student, I usually begin at a level that they can easily perform. From that platform, we progress step-by-step until we find the area of difficulty and why it is there. When we master that, we move on. There are a variety of techniques to use, depending on the problem and the student, but the general expectation is that they can do it.
