My comments on tutoring Pre-Algebra : How many students start to have real mathematics trouble here? The reason is poor teaching! Most middle and high school math teachers are good at MATH, not at TEACHING it. I am excellent at explaining inequalities, solving for one variable, functions and graphing, multiplying, adding, subtracting and dividing exponents.

Multiple ways of presenting material; musically, visually, building models, finding answers by testing a hypothesis; experimenting, measuring, observing, seeing, touching.
Teaching middle school and high school science from 1983 to 2004, including every science subject listed in the TutorSelect list. I have worked as an educational consultant for national science laboratories, helping them train their scientists to work better in the school classrooms where they volunteer. I have worked for museums and for outdoor education programs, but have found the most satisfaction as a classroom teacher with all kinds of students. I have worked teaching teachers, but they were very difficult students.

A Little Bit About Me...

With a BA in Biology and research experience at Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute, as well as, the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio, I have used and learned extensive mathematical skills as well as grammatical skills for writing research papers and maintaining precise calculations in dosing. I tutored students in calculus, algebra, chemistry, and biology while also attending classes. I was elected to the Dean's Honor List as well as nominated to the Chancellor's List. I had a 3.3 GPA while participating in Soccer and tutoring on an as need basis.
I have a passion for teaching and working with children of all ages. I strive to teach my own children when the time comes to do so, but believe that teaching can begin at any age, and that all children, taught using their own abilities, can succeed in all subjects. I love the idea of being the person that has helped someone further their knowledge. I have always been a person that will take the time to teach someone something so they fully understand what they’re doing. I am patient, easy going and understand that everyone learns differently.
