A Little Bit About Me...

Currently I am employed as a home-based Family Specialist in Social Work. I teach parenting to persons in their homes. As I teach adults new parenting methods, I also teach children how to respond more appropriately to their parents, thus creating a win/win situation. By earning a Bachelor of Science in Social Work and a Master of Science in Management, I have learned skills that are necessary in both the personal and work world. I believe this has enhanced how I apply theory to practice. Many times as I am in different homes, I have tutored students who were in need. I served as a substitute teacher for a few months our local school system, though I prefer teaching on an individual basis.

My teaching style is one of friendly leadership. Working through problems or lessons with the student by leading them through it, then working it with them side by side while explaining the details helps them achieve the accomplishment of learning without making them feel as if they were just instructed how to do it. Helping a student learn is more than just teaching them a lesson in math, science, or English; it’s about being someone that they can look up to as a role model, being someone that they can learn from in more than just an academic manner, and being someone who is there for them when they need something. I have experience in every level of student. My first degree (A.S.) was in Engineering and I worked at higher level math, including a college Teacher's Assistant in Calculus. I went on to obtain a B.S. in Education. I took the coursework for Middle and High School endorsements in 4 other subject areas. I work in Remedial Education at a local university currently.

A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from Huntington University in 2008 with a BS in Business Management as well as Finance. Along with being a double-major, I also minored in Accounting. I was able to complete my studies in just four years. I am currently pursuing a Master's in Business Administration and have recently transferred from Strayer University in Raleigh, NC to Taylor's MBA program.
I always enjoyed helping my fellow classmates with their homework and with any questions. I was the first to help out a struggling student and to make sure they shared my level of understanding. I also was the first to receive tutoring if I ever felt I did not have a complete grasp on a subject. I believe a good tutor is one who not only enjoys giving help but knows when they need it as well.
