Through my teaching experiences, I have found the method of facilitating rather than dictating, to be a highly beneficial style of teaching. My teaching experiences have taught me that if students construct their own learning experiences, they will not only retain the information longer but they will also become more confident in their abilities. I believe teaching is the key to each child's future. When presented with the chance to succeed, I believe each child will. I believe in presenting each child with a verbal and visual explanation of each objective. I then believe that each child needs the chance to complete a task with encouragement and success before independent work. Assessment should only be taken AFTER a child has experienced numerous chances for understanding, practice, and mastery. Flexibility is another thing that many students are not allowed in class, and I believe is very important to success. This is permitted in my classes on an as-needed basis. Each child achieves mastery at a different rate, and regardless of the rate, each child deserves the chance to reach that proficiency.

I like to teach by example and give the student the opportunity to learn by doing. I do not do the work for the student, but instead allow him or her to do the work with my support until he or she is capable of doing the work independently. I am patient and thorough with my work. I do not get angry and I do not act strict with students. I also believe that I can learn from them just as they can learn from me, and therefore I always give them to chance to communicate their thoughts and feelings to me.
