My comments on tutoring Bio-Medical Engineering : Taught biomedical instrumentation at the university level and was an engineer in the industry for 10 years.

I am capable of both structured and informal teaching styles depending upon the situation. I find that when smaller increments of course instruction is followed up with the student demonstrating proficiency and comprehension the overall learning experience is maximized. Repetition is normally the best way to comprehend not only the material presented but it allows the student to assimilate the steps and formulas simulataneously.
I possess over 30 years of academic/industry training the areas of mathematics, networking, programming and engineering. I believe in being an active teacher helping an interactive student. Let the student be a major part of the program and I will be there to guide and correct if necessary. Teaching is keeping your participants attention by interacting with them...you can't imagine the fun they can have and still learn.
While in college, I tutored students in high school in lower level math and reading. I also taught swimming to high school students. During my tenure in industry, I was able to train less experienced employees in measuring tools and their use (calipers, Mics, feeler gauges, etc,) so that they might get a better position in the company and I received accolades from the home office for my efforts.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a mechanical engineering graduate at USF, I have taken a wide variety of classes in a wide variety of fields that have broadened my horizon. I am currently persuing my Masters degree in mechanical engineering. Also, I have learned extensive grammatical skills as well as writing research papers and lab reports, along with other reports in my engineering backhround. During the last five years I have spent four of them tutoring classmates and peers alike in engineering as well as other fields.
I have two younger brothers, ages 14 and 15, who I feel have made me that great tutor that I am today. My teaching style is based upon and centered around the learning style and age of the individual student. Every student learns differently. As a teacher I consider myself successful if I can not only help the student learn the required material, but can also help the student develop a learning strategy that works for them when they are working independently.
