A Little Bit About Me...

I have taught 1st through 4th grades in both Title 1 and nonTitle 1 public schools. I have training in several programs including Reading Recovery and Read to Achieve. I am well-versed in the common core curriculum and have led parental support sessions on how to help children using these new strategies. I have chaired my school's improvement team and have served on the Teacher Advisory Council. Love watching children learn and grow!

I use a variety of teaching styles and methods to reach students because I know that all students are different and learn better with different methods. I try to find creative ways to reach students to try to make learning as engaging and meaningful as possible.
I graduated from East Carolina University with a B.S. in Elementary Education (K-6) as well as Reading Certification (K-12). Throughout college I tutored elementary students for a tutoring company that worked with students in an urban district in Pennsylvania. My tutoring experiences are in K-1 and grade 3. Changing The World, One Child AT A Time

I was an assistant teacher to a 3rd grade class at Wilson's Mills Elementary from 2001 until 2003. My duties included assisted the teacher and helping the students in a manner to help them learn at their pace. And I also have an 8 year old son who attends River Dell Elementary.
