I began drawing when I was about 4 years old and have never stopped. Majoring in art in high school and in college I've worked as an artist and an art director for the past 25 years or so.. I was recently certified as a teaching artist. My main area of expertise is in illustration, especially in drawing people. I have had the pleasure to work inside the Natchez Adams School District as a Permanent Sub. I taught from the Mississippi Curriculum Framer. I feel that I can relate to children because I am also a child at heart. I believe in constant verbal quizzing and repitition as a means to develop the child's ability to retain knowledge and call it forth at will. I have learned from past work experiences that all people learn differently be it either visual, kinetic (hands-on), or verbal (by listening). By learning the child's learning type you can tell which method appeals to them and can create a learning environment to encourage their growth at a faster rate. As a freelance writer, I feel it is important that children write well. I strive hard in my classes to help children use their imagination and creativity in writing. My other areas of concentration are reading, spelling, grammar, and language arts, During the last 7 years, I have worked as a substitute teacher for Memphis City and Shelby County schools, in grades PreK-6th grades. I enjoy working with children. I like to see their eagerness to learn and their excitement to read. It is important to me that they learn, so I will want to see results from their performance.
