My comments on tutoring Life Science : i have taught my daughters 9th grade Biology and Life sciences while homeschooling. My daughters are currently taking Advanced Biology II Honors and I am helping them study and prep for tests and quizzes. So, I am currectly refreshed on the material.

My teaching style is very hands-on, involving pictures, manipulatives, and tactile modalities. I like to use a dry-erase board to demonstrated concepts as well as allow the student to practice. I take them step-by-step through a new concept, giving a lot of verbal positive reinforcement to praise effort as well as achievement.
I received my training from Cedarville University, Wright State University, Plymouth State College and Keene State College. I received my BA from Cedarville University in Elementary Education with an Emphasis in Special Education. A Little Bit About Me...

I have been teaching children since 1990, when I worked as a Naturalist for the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. I did this kind of education for 3 years. I then created my own educational company and presented workshops on natural resource topics for children and adults from 1997-2002. More recently, from 2006-09, I worked both as a substitute school teacher and a contract tutor. I am presently presenting weekly tree programs at my local Boys and Girls Club.

Working through problems or lessons with the student by leading them through it, then working it with them side by side while explaining the details helps them achieve the accomplishment of learning without making them feel as if they were just instructed how to do it. To give you some background, I graduated from Purdue University, Fort Wayne with a degree in biology and chemistry. I subsequently accepted a position with the Allen County Department of Health as an Environmental Health Specialist. In this position, I routinely inspect restaurants and markets in the Allen County Area. One of the most fulfilling aspects of my current position is the opportunity to utilize my science background and to educate the community on food-safety issues.
