My comments on tutoring Literature : My university education heavily emphasized reading and analyzing literature. As a part of my classwork I read European and American literature from Beowulf to Brontë to Joyce to Woolf; Postcolonial literature, including Salman Rushdie and Arundhati Roy; and a wide variety of literary criticism. I have given college lectures on a number of novels and poems, namely Hemingway's A Farewell to Arms, Brontë's Jane Eyre, and T.S. Eliot's Wasteland. In my tutoring, I analyze books such as To Kill a Mockingbird and 1984 with my students.

I earned my BA in English in 2010 and have been teaching and tutoring high school and college students ever since, both in the classroom and as a private tutor. My years of experience have helped me understand not only what is expected of students but how to best teach those skills. My expertise includes grammar, AP classes, creative and academic writing, in-depth text analysis, and vocabulary development. Meeting students where they are academically ~ 15 yrs. exp.

I believe that grammar and punctuation are critical in written expression. I am very focused on the learning style of the student and will begin with most student making that determination and connection with the student. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated Cum Laude from Ball State with a double major in Visual Communication and Genetics. Both my parents were teachers and I often tutored my friends. I taught Swimming to children every summer for from 2001-2005, so I have experience with young children having a hard time paying attention. I have strong skills in science and math.
