Science is one of my top subjects! I have a degree in biochemistry, and have worked as both a lab assistant for general chemistry and organic chemistry as well as performed biochemical research in a laboratory setting twice during my undergraduate career.

I spent the last year teaching English in China. I have experience teaching ESOL, and am experienced dealing learners of English of a second language. I have training in the Balanced Literacy program in which the word study, reading objectives, and writers' workshop are combined in a one and a half hour block of student driven, teacher facilitated activities. These are ultimately shared in a whole group and or one on one setting. When tutoring, I do a very brief mini lesson on the objective and we go immediatley into the task at hand with instant feedback and adaptation between the reader or writer and myself as we progress through the lesson. If the student is hung on vowel digraphs, we stop and examine those and do word work with several examples. My next choices for them to read would have more vowel digraphs.
