In working with students one needs to have the ability to connect with that student at their level of understanding. This can be different for every student, and the tutor needs to adjust to the student. A tutor has to be able to do this or the student will not be any better off. It is my firm belief that I need to find a way to connect with each student, and find a way to help them understand what they need to learn. Very often in a school setting it is not only the subject matter that can give students a tough time, but a lot of times it is that the student either freezes on tests and quizzes or may not have good test taking skills, and sometimes this needs to be learned as well as a particular subject.

Teaching the student "where" to look to find answers is big help too, there is reference material out on the web for ANY business related task you can think of.
I have 20+ years of real world business IT experience. Most of that was programming on IBM iSeries/AS400 mini computers in RPG or COBOL.
