While raising my kids, I came to understand that each child has a unique way of learning. Homeschooling my son gave an opportunity for trial and error during which I discovered an understanding of how students would learn best. My teaching style is based on the Flemings VARK model of learning--Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, and Tactile/Kinesthetic. I believe that each student has a unique learning style. An auditory learner may be geared towards tapes, lectures and discussions, whereas, a tactile/kinesthetic learner responds to models, movement, and maybe drawing.
