Reading is one of my top subjects! I teach reading comprehension skills and have skills to apply for any student who has less than grade level achievement up to highly proficient readers.

My comments on tutoring Reading : I have taught Reading for thirty years in various grades from Kindergarten to sixth grade.

I have tutored in both Robeson County and Cumberland County for a total of six years. I tutored students in math, reading and science from grades Kindergarten to sixth grade. We also prepared students in grades three through six for the End of the Year test. We taught test taking strategies as well. In addition, I have tutored students that attend college in American Government and World History. I also, tutored in GA for three years. There I tutored various age groups in writing, reading, math, test strategies, and Microsoft Office. I taught and tutored ESL two years before entering law school. I hae taught college classes as an adjunct and later FT professor at Penn College for 25 years. I currently serve as Career Outreach Coordinator for HACC-Lebanon Campus. I have tutored many students, particularly in areas such as writing essays. I also served as a reader for the SAT Writing section, so I am familiar with what they are seeking. I am very proficient in grammar and structure.
My teaching style with students of all ages is to facilitate their learning as opposed to simply feeding them what I feel is the best response. Students learning is maximized when they can take ownership of and pride in their work. I am very patient.
