A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with youth all my life. I managed youth services at a library and was responsible for all programming and special events for youth of all ages as well as programs for struggling, beginning readers and homework assistance in the afternoons. I worked with many schools providing literacy-based activities in their classrooms. As part of my master's course work in elementary education, I studied child development, mathematics, social studies, science and language arts instruction. With a bachelor's degree in English, my high school and college age tutoring has often focused on literature, writing and composition.

The most important thing to me is making sure each child is able to learn in a manner in which they feel comfortable. Each person's learning style is as unique as the individual themselves. So, I like to get input from the student as to how they would like lesson plans and exercises to be implemented. I don't believe that there are children who can't reach their fullest potential as long as there is a teacher who is willing to put in the extra measures that are necessary.
Due to my undergraduate experiences at NCAT, I was able to develop new skills while enhancing the ones that I already possessed. While at A&T, I earned a degree in African American studies, in which I learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing graduate level research papers.
