Learn English from a native English speaker

I studied Arabic in college. One of my employees was from Jordan. He was trying to learn English. I would help him with his English. English is not an easy language to learn from a book. You have to be immersed in conversation to learn its many rules (and broken rules). This can only be done with someone who is native English speaking and knows enough of your language to communicate this to you. Having learned Arabic I know how Arabic is spoken and how to teach you how to think about speaking English. This is a very important step to progress that is left out of so many training programs. I learned how to speak Arabic better by listening to my Arabic speaking friend speak broken English.

My comments on tutoring English ESOL : English is my third language. I understand the grammar and mechanics behind the language as I learned it "by the book" since I did not grow up speaking it.

2012 college graduate, majored in German language with a French language minor. I tutored foreign languages all 4 years in the Academic Resource Center at Mercer University in Macon, Georgia. As part of our seminar classes, I also tutored Math at the Alexander II Elementary School in Macon. I have volunteer experience at the Joshua House After-school program. English ESOL is one of my top subjects!

I believe in adapting the teaching style to suit the student's learning style. Teaching English in China, I adopted a practical stance, teaching useful words and grammar and reinforced their reading lessons. Making languages fun and easy!

I like personal relationships, first I evaluate your level of knowledge in three categories speaking, writing, reading/comprehension and based on that we will work on your strong points first to perfect them and then move on to the weaker areas.

The teaching style that brings the best success I've found is centered on two points. First of all, it is based on listening, which means getting the student to talk. Eventually, with guidance, I aim to get them the ability to talk through and solve any problem. The second major technique I like to use is analogies. Even complicated subjects can be simplified into their core components which are easy to understand if taught as an analogy to something more familiar in daily life.
