My training is in philosophy, so I tend to focus on helping students develop strong reasoning/arguing skills and a precise voice. I find that these skills, which are heavily emphasized in philosophical writing, carry over well into all forms of academic writing.
I have worked at the Salem State University writing center for the last two years. At the writing center, I work with students on papers in all subjects, from math to English. The students would ask me to tell them stories of my travels. This was partly to get off the subject matter, but they also enjoyed hearing about different parts of the world as qwell.

As an undergraduate I worked at the mathematics tutor lab in our department. As a PhD student I both taught and assisted in the teaching of mathematics courses at the university level. Also I have experience with privately tutoring elementary, jr. high and high school students.
