My comments on tutoring Spanish : I am a native speaker as well as a professor

I like to involve the student as much as possible (student participation) and I also have one on one conversations with students, and I aslo implement reading, writing, grammar and listening and speaking as well as culture.

Energetic, passionate tutor ready to teach spanish to anyone

In high school I excelled in spanish to such an extent that I placed out of most of the university spanish classes. Thus, while I have moved on to learning arabic my spanish skills are honed to the extent that I plan to graduate with a spanish major (in addition to my anthropology major) by the time I finish my undergraduate work at Northwestern.
How I teach depend on what the student needs most; I would never coerce anyone into a predefined tutoring rubric, as that may harm their ability to learn.

The temptation as instructor is to simply restructure the way in which a student learns in order to fit your view, and those I have helped encourage such behavior. Guidance, suggestions, and allusions as to how a student can improve and understand is a better alternative. Simply doing the work for the student has little value in regards to education. A fine balance must be struck between open ended comments of little use and high jacking creativity through re-working large portions of work. My policy is to make the student aware of their shortcomings, explain my reasoning, and use enigmatic reserve in telling them how to correct errors. My teaching style is as varied as the students I have taught. I feel it is important to relate to the student in order to help them learn best. When there are different learning styles, I do my best to use a variety of teaching techniques in order to cater to the need of the student. I would define my teaching style as hands on. If I can find a real life example of the material at hand, I will use it. I love to work on whiteboards/ chalkboards with students. This way they are out of their seat and showing me what they know. I am very willing to bend to any style of learning. Playing games, creating flashcards, repetitive drilling of information.
