Drama is one of my top subjects! I have been both in plays and worked as the stage crew. I have also directed numerous productions in an after school program.

-Over 2.5 years in Before and After school Program where we helped students with school work and put on plays during the summer. -About a year as a Teachers aid working almost exclusively with Students in Math. -I have worked with children ranging from 3 years old to twelve years old. -I spent 9 years working with students in many different areas.
Some children just need a new way of looking at something to understand it. Children might also need just little more time to understand something that schools just don't have the time to give. I am patient, caring and I can think outside the box if a student needs a new way to look at a problem.

I began working with children who were diagnosed with autism my first year of college (I did this for 7 years). I felt a sense of accomplishment as I watched them grow as people. I realized through these experiences that I wanted to help people learn and become accomplished. Later, I decided to student teach in graduate school. My strength as a teacher is in using scaffolding to help students gain confidence as a learner. What that essentially means is that I provide a great deal of support and modeling to students learning new skills and concepts. Gradually, as they become more advanced in learning, I remove those supports so they are performing more independently.
