I earned my Bachelor degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Mathematics. I was a substitute teacher for three years. I recently earned nine credit hours of additional education in order to renew my teaching license with the State of Ohio. Currently a stay-at-home mother, I give piano lessons to students at various levels of ability. I took piano lessons for eight years and am considered to be an advanced player. I love the experience of teaching children and seeing the light in their eyes when they understand what they are learning. I believe each child learns in their own way and in their own time. As such, I believe in going along with the student's ability. I do not believe in high pressure teaching. I am patient and easy going. If a student is struggling, I back up and try another approach. I strive for my students to enjoy what they are learning as much as possible

I started playing piano at the age of two. This was do to the fact that my grandmother was a professional piano instructor. I completed eight years of Music through the School on The following Instruments, Mallet Percussion, Trombone, Piano, Minor Voice. After completing High school I returned to the school the following year to help instruct the Music department. I then relocated and assisted the high school with teaching their Mallet percussion and helping with individual performances. I am fluent in Piano; Marimba; xylophone, Timpani, and other mallet percussion. I am currently a church pianist of the past four years. As long as I can remember I have always wanted to be a teacher to help all age groups of children. I have both a BS and a Masters degree in the field of education. I have taught for many years as well as been a principal and a tutor in reading, math, and handwriting. I really enjoy my profession as I believe it is one of the most rewarding. I love to teach and enjoy working with all age groups of children. I believe all children can learn through different methods of instruction. I believe in teaching children through hands on methods and through doing and discovery. I believe through positive reinforcement and praise children can meet their goals and there is no end to what they can achieve. I firmly believe that every child is capable of learning hard concepts, they just have to be taught in a way that is applicable to them. So I first like to get to know the student and try to figure out their learning style and teach them according to how they learn. This helps me figure out where the root of the problem is so I can fix it. Then I like to use a lot of visual and hands-on lessons because children need that to really grasp concepts and to apply it in different situations. I also like to question them to lead them to come to the answer and concepts themselves in order to increase their curiosity, desire to learn, and self-esteem.
